Recently, I taught a group of Young Women (ages 12 to 18) in our church to make earrings.
Now, they didn't make these earrings for themselves, but for our local cancer center.
I mentioned in a blog not too long ago about a lady who does this; she donates earrings to patience undergoing chemo and radiation treatment. Her organization is called, EARS TO YOU. It's a great thing she does, you should check it out.
Anyway, our girls made 21 pair of beautiful earrings, and cards to put the earrings onto.
They are going to make a sticker to put on the bottom of the cards that have the Young Women's organization name on it. They are still contemplating as to what it will look like.
In a few weeks, they will deliver these earrings. They had a fun time making these. Not only did they learn a skill, but they have also done some fun service for someone.
I even heard a few of the girls mention they would like to make some earring for their mothers.
Sweet! You must be proud for what they and you have accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI am just very excited that the girls wanted to do something like this. They are really a bunch of good girls!
DeleteWhat a great reason to be creative...I love when I see people teach their craft to others so they in turn can touch others themselves!
ReplyDeleteThese girls are always looking for service projects, and I thought, "Well, hey, they can give service and learn a skill too!"
DeleteThis is just wonderful! Job definetly well done!
