PRAYER STICKS

About a year or so ago, I taught our Young Women at church how to make these cool pipe cleaner flowers.
I actually saw a tutorial from Michael's that showed how to make the giant chenille flowers, but thought you could just use the smaller flowers. You should check out the easy tutorial here

After we made a whole mess of these fun flowers, we made our "Prayer Garden." We wrapped the stem of the flower around Popsicle sticks that had a name on it. Each Young Woman had her own stick--active girls, as well as less active girls. We also put our church leaders and our national leaders. Some other's we put on there, were our troops, our families, etc.

After we completed this, we put them into a container.
Each time we say a prayer, we take one or two flowers out, and in our prayers, we pray for the individual or individuals that are on the sticks. It was nice to actually have a specific name to pray for and made them really think of what they were saying.
The girls not only enjoyed making these, but looked forward to pulling the sticks out to see who we were going to pray for.
